FAQ
Is my Chinese zodiac animal my whole Chinese chart?
The familiar Chinese zodiac animal usually comes from the Earthly Branch of your Year Pillar.
No.
But a Four Pillars / BaZi chart contains four pillars:
- Year
- Month
- Day
- Hour
Each contains both a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch.
That gives your chart eight visible characters, which is where the name BaZi — Eight Characters — comes from.
Your birth-year animal is therefore only one component of a much larger pattern involving Yin and Yang, the Five Elements, season, your Day Master and the relationships between Stems and Branches.
