Why is my Vedic sign different from my Western sign?
Most modern Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, which is anchored to the seasonal cycle.
Vedic astrology generally uses a sidereal zodiac, which is adjusted in relation to the stellar background.
Because of the gradual astronomical phenomenon known as precession, the two zodiac systems are currently separated by roughly 24 degrees, depending on the sidereal calculation being used.
That difference is enough to move many planetary placements — including your Sun, Moon or Ascendant — into the previous zodiac sign.
Neither result necessarily means the other is wrong. They come from different reference systems and should be interpreted within their respective traditions.
Astralway therefore keeps your Western and Vedic charts separate before comparing the themes that emerge from them.
